Man arrested, charged with murder in connection with road-rage shooting on South Side, SAPD says

Joe Longoria was taken into custody Thursday

SAN ANTONIO – A man accused of shooting and killing another man in front of his daughter during a road-rage incident on the South Side is now in custody, according to San Antonio police.

Joe Longoria, 20, was arrested Thursday and is charged with the murder of Ines Quiroga, 49.

The charge stems from an incident that happened on Dec. 15 in the 400 block of Lebanon Street.

Quiroga’s daughter told KSAT she and her father were running errands, but two vehicles blocked both sides of the street they were traveling on.

A heated argument broke out between Quiroga and Longoria, who were in their vehicles, and the situation escalated when both men got out of their vehicles and confronted each other.

That’s when Longoria pulled a gun and shot Quiroga, who was unarmed, according to SAPD.

Quiroga died from his injuries a short time later.

An arrest warrant affidavit states that Longoria was the passenger in the black Dodge Challenger. As they fled the scene, the Challenger hit the victim’s vehicle, causing a side mirror to fall off.

The serial number on the mirror confirmed the suspect vehicle was a Challenger. Police also received a Crime Stoppers tip that described the suspect’s vehicle and gave the suspect’s name and address.

The affidavit states that surveillance footage from the area shows a Challenger arriving at a nearby home two minutes after the shooting. In the footage, Longoria appeared to be concealing items as he ran inside the home, according to investigators.

US Marshal Task Force, Street Crimes Unit, SAPD East SAFFE and SAPD South SAFFE partnered in the investigation that led to Longoria’s arrest.
